 | Case Studies A school in Northamptonshire needed to know why people who had asked for prospectuses had then not joined. The school had a poor conversion ratio between those who rang for prospectuses and registering their child for places. Barle carried out 20 phone interviews and found that the main cause was uncertainty over the future development of the school. This was being portrayed by the staff showing the parents around as muddle and lack of confidence in the future direction of the school. This was highlighted, a position taken on the development by the management which was communicated to all the staff. The conversion rate increased by just giving the staff the clarity which was needed and agreeing the position to be taken. School Group needing verify competitor numbers A school group was looking at a number of schools which it was potentially going to acquire. They believed that the pupil numbers being given to them were incorrect. The researcher was able to find the correct numbers by visiting the schools and finding the information.
